Phase I :
The initial four to eight weeks are more rigorous and the amount of weight loss will vary per patient. The caloric
intake is markedly decreased, while monitoring other health issues,  which is designed to lose as much as ten to
twenty pounds per month. A baseline fitness evaluation is performed. The three meal a day nutritional plan
calorie count is modified for the first portion of the program. Appetite suppressant medications and
vitamin B12
injections begin.  Patients are medically followed weekly by clinic staff. After the fourth week, the patient’s
success in the weight management program is evaluated by the physician. Based on the progress made and
goals set, the plan is continued for an additional four weeks or the patient moves to Phase II.

Phase II :
A second fitness evaluation is performed. The caloric intake is raised, while monitoring other health issues. The
amount of weight loss is not as drastic but is designed to continue to lose up to ten pounds per month.
Exercise is a major emphasis. Cardio-aerobics is encouraged as well as stretching and toning exercises. Patients
are medically followed weekly by clinic staff and monthly by the physician.  Appetite suppressant medications and
vitamin B12 injections continue.  Phase II continues until the patient has achieved their target weight.

Phase III  (maintenance):
A third fitness evaluation is performed. The caloric requirements are gradually adjusted to the expected
maintenance level. The patient’s weight is monitored initially weekly for the first four weeks, then monthly for the
next six months. Appetite suppressant medications are phased out and the patient continues with the lifestyle
behavior modifications that have been learned.
vitamin B12 injections are still encouraged.  Weekly weigh-ins are
always available as are the support and counseling of the clinic staff and physicians.
